Mate
After a long time apart, local no-hoper John must take care of reserved schoolboy Jack over a single weekend in an insular working-class outpost of Western Sydney. However, Jack's attempt to re-establish their relationship is threatened as John's self-destructive nature emerges. Mate is an uncompromising examination of masculinity, maturity and explores the challenges of personal growth within a changing social landscape.

“…a story so simple in the relationship between two opposite characters but at the same time so complex in not judging anyone and allowing mistakes and cowardice as a way of expressing one’s inability to be in the world . What could have been a classical, simplistic and moralistic tale suddenly becomes a very strong piece about hidden depression, about wanting to be better, so intense and emotionally powerful thanks in a big part to the extraordinary performances by Joshua Brennan and Jeremy Blewitt” - Gregory Audermatte, ARTE
